20 February 2009 Dennis hangs up his boots
TIM DENNIS: on Lisheen Storm during the 2008 season
Successful West Country rider Tim Dennis has decided to hang up his boots, after a fifteen-year race riding career.
His first success came on Intec in 1993, at the age of 16, since when his tally between the flags has reached 48, plus six more in Hunter Chases, and he finished second in the Liverpool Fox Hunter Chase in 2003 on General Wolfe.
"I can't afford to get injured because I've got the farm to run," said Tim, who also successfully buys and sells youngstock, "and I'm happy to have got out in one piece."
He will not be lost to the sport, however, as he still has Pointers in his yard, and recently saddled Brook Castle to score at Buckfastleigh under Will Biddick.
