27 April 2011 Preview: Betting Pointers for Pendle Forest & Craven - Heslaker

by Will Milburn

The Pendle Forest and Craven will hold their meeting this Sunday near Skipton, North Yorkshire. The meeting will host a seven race card, which includes the Club Members Restricted Championship.

The first race is the Hunt Members race and three strong yards stand out here. The Bannister family will have the choice of good stayer General Grey, who ran very well in fourth recently, as well as the prolific Sonevafushi who, though age may be catching up on him, can still go well. Sam Drake has Dougall who stays well but can be inconsistent and may appreciate easy ground, whilst Jo Foster will most likely run On Y Va or Gunner Snow. The latter walking over at Flagg on Monday, whilst On Y Va returned to form in a very modest match race.
Selection - General Grey

The second race is the Novice Riders race, and a yard in red hot form is that of the Tutty family. Ataraxia may be their weapon of choice here, who looks to stay well and shouldn't be under estimated. Tinarana Lord, Tank Buster, Stagecoach Diamond and Flashy Boy all stay well but do not have age on their side, with the latter having the strongest chance. Le Seychellois has won his last three races and could be the main danger, whilst Forsomeonelikeyou stays very well and put up an impressive performance at the Sinnington meeting so this should suit well.
Selection - Forsomeonelikeyou

Ladies Open contender Cluthe Boy has been runner-up twice this season and may find Impact Zone too strong, who will appreciate fast conditions. Optimistic Harry looks to have gone off the boil recently so can only be watched. Tynedale and Wantage Road both stay well and could have minor roles, whilst Keeverfield has recorded a sequence of wins this season and should go well. Poppy Day looks back to her best however, and on a track that will suit her down to the ground, could be hard to beat.
Selection - Poppy Day

The Restricted Championship has received a large number of entrants, most notably the David Easterby-trained Bitter Blue who has won his last three races with some ease and should be hard to beat. Chip N Pin stays well and can go close. Dark Moon has been rejuvenated and will run a good race along with recent winner Forge Valley. Forsomeonelikeyou could be the danger to all, whilst Gunner Snow, Next Girl and Once Before all stay extra well but may find one too good. Saddlers Mot went close at Mordon and can progress further; however, Triggers Sun stays very well and has progressed well all season, so another bold bid on this stiff track should be expected.
Selection - Triggers Sun

The Mens Open has only five entries. Enter Paradise is progressing well but this could be his toughest competition. Prelude Destruval has recorded some respectable place efforts this season and following My Old Piano's his first defeat in points lately, it is unsure whether this track will suit. Ask Bobby stays well and should be good enough to take this race.
Selection - Ask Bobby

In the Confined there are several with chances. Mr Gossip has the best form, but has finished runner-up on too many occasions. Father Murtagh was given a fantastic ride to win last time by Guy Brewer and should go very close. Mr Barnacle looks a modest performer so far this season, along with Chibuku, who looks flattered by his placed efforts. Dougall and Noble Persian stay well, with the latter having plenty of course form and having won the last two runnings of this race.
Selection - Noble Persian

The Open Maiden has received twenty eight entries. Amongst Friends was a distant third at Bangor-on-Dee, Botany Cove was a weakening second at Brocklesby Park, meaning Bright Cloud could be the best of these and is one to note if the ground is on the soft side. Burdock was an improved third recently, whilst Classinaglass was narrowly defeated on his debut and is well bred, so should go close again. Murphys Beau was a bit disappointing last time, and this stiffer track may see him to better effect. My Clementine was runner-up at Dalton Park and showed her first piece of form there; Raasay was also third at the same track and was unlucky recently, and with the second from that race winning since, should go very well. Quantum Theory was last seen finishing third in a 3m novice hurdle in Ireland and with several placed efforts to his name should be one to note.
Selection - Raasay and Bright Cloud
