ARDNACLANCY: put up a great run on Hunter Chase debut

Two horses on the Weatherbys Chase Stars list have been in winning form recently - whilst another has been placed third in a Hunter Chase at big odds.
Ardnaclancy, a leading young Pointer last season and an obvious selection for the Chase Stars after a campaign that yielded five wins and two seconds from seven Point-to-Point outings, made his racecourse return at Haydock recently, where he contested the valuable Walrus Hunter Chase.
In a field that contained Cowboyboots, already a dual Open winner in impressive style this season, alongside experienced Hunter Chase types such as Border Fusion and Oopsmylord, Ardnaclancy was allowed to go off at generous odds of 25/1.
Whilst the Weatherbys Chase Hunter Chase Betting Service was proven to be correct in predicting a win for Cowboyboots and a bold run from eventual second Vicario (7/2 and 11/2 respectively), Ardnaclancy kept on admirably to run into third and in the process prove that he has the talent to progress to Open Point-to-Points and Hunter Chases this season.
Rocklandslad has justified his inclusion in the list with a convincing victory in the Countryside Alliance Club (Wessex) Intermediate on his seasonal return, whilst Cannington Brook has gone under Rules and won over hurdles at his second attempt; sent off 11/10 favourite after his Towcester second, he was able to register an easy victory at Ludlow on Thursday.
Looking ahead, Rocklandslad has the opportunity to make both a swift racecourse reappearance and step up in grade this weekend, still holding an entry in the Ladies Open at the North Hereford meeting as Entries for that fixture stand from its original scheduled date.
