Limerick Leader: has a choice of engagements at the meeting for the Hutchinson family
Good ground conditions look in store for the Harborough Race Club's meeting at the popular Dingley racecourse this coming Saturday. A good entry of 167 has been received for the six races, with a first race time of 2.30pm.
A large crowd is expected at the Leicestershire venue where admission prices are £15 per car with driver, £5 per additional person, £5 for pedestrians, and children under 16 free.
The First race on the card is The Harborough Race Club Members race, sponsored by Sharnford Tractors, and five horses have been entered. The Hutchinson stable have both Free, a winner at Kingston Blount and Brafield this year, and Limerick Leader, who won this race last year. Newnham Baby also won here last year, and Jimmy Tarry has entered Highland Vasco who should not be left out of the equation.
Corby Motors have kindly sponsored race two, the Restricted race, which has attracted a good entry of 35. Stanley Park won the Maiden race here last year; French Bey won a similar race at Guilsborough; and Sykee Savage won at Bitterley in April. However, the Dawson stable have Bentota entered and he looks the pick on his latest run.
The Ladies' Open race has attracted an entry of 40, and is sponsored by A.F. Dickson, the Building Contractors. The Hutchinson stable could run Limerick Leader or Free, and also have High Gear entered. Sapega is also in with a chance on his last win at Chaddesley Corbett. Another of note is the Garthorpe specialist Vingis Park, who has the experienced Jill Dawson on board.
The fourth race up is the Men's Open race, sponsored by Lycetts Insurance Brokers, and has an entry of 25. This prize looks sure to go the way of one of the five Yorkshire raiders that are entered. Bow School won at the Melton Hunt Club meeting, and Sonevafushi won an Open at Tabley, so Oliver Greenall looks set to partner one of these. However, Saint Reverien, the probable mount of Adrian Wintle, could well spring a surprise.
Hows Racesafe of Wilbarton are the sponsors for the Intermediate race and twenty horses have been entered. Burn Brook won the Melton Hunt Club Novice Championship and is the probable mount of Garthorpe leading rider Richard Armson; the consistent Sovereign Quest has taken second place in his last five races and may get his head in front this time; but, in what looks a tight contest, the vote just goes to The Fairhill Boy who has already won at Heslaker and Alnwick this season.
The Open Maiden race has an entry of 42, is sponsored by The Old Barn at Glooston, and due to the high number of entries we may see this race divided. Inchadoney Boy was beaten only half a length at Northaw when well fancied; Crow Spinney finished second in a 2½ mile Maiden at Mordon; but the six year old Equivocate, who was second at Cold Harbour, has Claire Allen on board and is the selection.
Dingley racecourse is situated 3 miles east of Market Harborough, on the Market Harborough to Corby road.
