03 March 2011 Scene & Heard: The Perils of a Hot Wash

by Point-to-Point Racing Company Ltd Staff

Point-to-Point trainer Robin Butterworth yesterday recounted to us a story which highlights the dangers of washing delicate racing silks at a hot temperature....

Bristol-based Butterworth currently has three horses in training, all of them displaying the royal blue and white quartered silks of owner Peter Isaac.

Following Anadama's fall at Chaddesley last weekend the silks got rather muddy, so they were taken home for a good wash. Unfortunately, setting the washing machine dial to sixty degrees proved too much for the colours. Therefore, from now onwards, Mr Isaac's horses will be running in royal blue and light blue quarters.....

Mr Isaac has yet to own a winner, so perhaps his new set of colours will bring him a welcome change of luck.
