28 April 2009 Preview: Hursley Hambledon - Hackwood Park
by Robin Gray
Hackwood Park stages the final meeting in the Sandhurst Area on Monday 4 May. Recent rain will encourage a good turnout from 68 entries for the six races.
Leading Novice rider, Fenton Ramsahoye, can consolidate his position on the leaderboard if his 14-year-old Heaven Is Above wins or is placed in the opening Members race; the Frensham based combination have won and finished second at the two previous meetings at Hackwood. In opposition will be Alresford trainer Victoria Collins' Dr. Flight, the mount of Rilly Goschen, and Donerailes Choice, to be ridden by Hugh McKenna, who is six points behind Ramsahoye in the Novice competition.
Walcot Lad has won at both Hackwood Park meetings and goes for the hat trick under Chloe Boxall in the Ladies, in which multiple winner Carryonharry is an obvious danger.
First race is at 2.00 and will be preceded by two pony races starting at 12.00 noon.
Cars are charged at £30 and £20 regardless of number of occupants and the usual catering and children's entertainments will be on site.
Hackwood Park is one mile south of Basingstoke, M3 Exit 6, off the A339.
