IAN CHANIN (pictured aboard Kingscliff): on the easy list

West Country-based Ian Chanin, this year's British representative in the Fegentri championship, is set to miss the first part of the new Point-to-Point season after breaking his leg last week while schooling over jumps at the Devon yard of Polly Gundry and Ed Walker.

"It's just one of those things - the horse got it wrong and then rolled on me," said Ian, who is now home from hospital after an operation to pin the leg.

Ian, who rode 17 winners last season to take his tally between the flags to 55, had plenty of rides to look forward to in the early weeks of the campaign, including those trained by Ed and Polly. If all goes according to plan, he hopes that he may return to the saddle by the end of January.
