There was a first winner at Wadebridge on Saturday for Mike Heard, 16, on Charming Gael, who landed the Maiden Division 2.
The nine-year-old is owned by Mike's parents John and Sandra in partnership with John's father Ken, and is trained by John. Mike, for whom it was a 16th ride in total and a second of the season, has been working for Paul Nicholls for seven months, and regularly rides out the useful Novice Chaser Tchico Polos.

Harry Fowler recorded a 50th career victory in Britain when Itsallupintheair took the Club Members' race at the Waveney Harriers. Harry has also ridden several winners in Ireland, both under Rules and between the flags.

Godfrey Maundrell's treble at Larkhill (see Scene & Heard) was the first of his long career, and had him wondering how much longer he would have to keep riding in order to complete his first four-timer!
