07 May 2011 Mares Maiden Series- last chance to qualify
Owing to the cancellation of the Clifton-on-Teme Point-to-Point, the last chance to qualify for the Best Performing Novice Mare Award will be at the Four Burrow meeting on Sunday the 15th of May. Entries for the meeting, to be held at Trebudannon, close TODAY (Sunday 8th of May) at 6pm.
The award is part of the PPORA and PPA-sponsored Mares Maiden Series. Throughout the season 12 races have been sponsored, and the winner of each, provided they are owned by a member of the PPORA, qualifies for the £500 prize.
Points towards the accolade have been awarded all season for wins and places in both Point-to-Points and Hunter Chases, with the scoring as follows:
Maiden/Restricted Races
1st- 4 2nd- 2 3rd- 1
All other Point-to-Point Races
1st- 6 2nd- 3 3rd- 1
Hunter Chases
1st- 8 2nd- 4 3rd- 2
Not only will the winning mare earn her connections the £500 prize, they will also be awarded the Steeple Trophy.

Points will be accrued up to and including the 22nd of May, following which the presentation will be made at the PPORA Lunch at Stratford Racecourse on Friday the 27th of May. The winning connections will be guests of the PPORA and PPA at the lunch.
