10 March 2008 Meynell & South Staffs - Weston Park

The Meynell & South Staffs fixture at Weston Park this Sunday, March 16th, has attracted a bumper entry of 162. Racing comes under starters at 1.00pm, with the Open Maiden, and the 7 race card concludes at 4.30pm with another Open Maiden, the latter being over two and a half miles.

Speaking earlier today, joint clerk of the course, Richard Froggatt said, "The strong winds we have had have dried out the course, but we have rain forecast for earlier this week, which should take any sting out of the ground. I am hoping the ground will be good on the day."

Admission to this popular Shropshire course is only £25 per car, regardless of the number of passengers, which represents excellent value for money. Single occupancy will be charged at just £15.

The first two horses past the judge in the Volkswagen Touareg Mens Open, will qualify for the £10,000 Volkswagen Touareg Point-to-Point Championship Hunter Chase Final at Towcester on Monday, May 12th.

After the last race the Meynell & South Staffs will be running a charity race over one circuit of the course in which each of the 8 riders taking part has pledged £250 which will be going to National and local charities of their choice.
