15 February 2008 North Hereford - Whitwick Manor
The tapes will go up for the local Point-to-Point season this Saturday (Feb 16th) with the popular North Herefordshire Hunt meeting.
As both the Mares only Maiden and the Confined Maiden races have both been split there will be a minimum of nine races at Whitwick Manor, near Newtown crossroads, Lower Eggleton, including a qualifier for the Brightwells Confined Championship. The first event, the hotly competitive Members race, is scheduled for midday. There is a strong possibility that further races may be divided after declarations close tomorrow.
The course has dried our rapidly during the week, and should be better than Wednesday's official prediction of ‘good to soft'. With a sharp frost forecast this evening (Friday), hunt supporters were busy putting ground covers around the inviting fences as a safeguard.
The course (HR8 2UE) can be found 8 miles north-east of Hereford, close to the junction of the A417 and A4103.
