28 December 2009 Preview: North Norfolk Harriers - Higham
by James Crispe
An extra race has been added to the North Norfolk Harriers Point-to-Point at Higham on Sunday January 3rd, meaning that there will now be seven races run at half hour intervals between noon and 3.00pm.
The number of entries for the opening Maiden race meant that it needed to be divided, with 18 engaged in each section. Overall 136 entries have been received for the entire meeting.
Race 3 is a PPORA race for Novice Riders which could witness the riding debut of 16-year-old Bridget Andrews, younger sister of the dual East Anglian champion, Gina Andrews, who has impressed many onlookers with her riding under rules in recent months.
Bridget's mount is set to be Liberty Ben, a dual chasing winner for Robert Alner, although the partnership could instead plump to take on more experienced jockeys in the Ladies Open, where Scotland Yard is among their 17 potential rivals.
The Mens Open has attracted a strong entry, numbering 27. Among the big names here are Billyvoddan, Buckby Lane, Cedrus Libani and Nadover.
Higham is just to the west of the A12 between Colchester and Ipswich, post code CO7 6LE. Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s free.
