by Arthur Shone
The North Shropshire Hunt have attracted a decent entry of 127 for their meeting at Eyton on Severn this Bank Holiday Monday, which should ensure plenty of runners at the course.
The seven race card comes under starters orders at 2.00pm with the Members race and is set to conclude at 5.40pm with the Open Maiden contest.
Admission to this popular Shropshire course, which has been racing since 1923, is £25 per car regardless of the number of passengers, with single occupancy charged at £15. As well as a good day's racing in prospect there is also a fair for the younger generation, and for the adults there will be a number of trade stands.
The Mens Open for the prestigious Mrs Bibby Silver Fox Trophy has attracted a top class entry of 16. Amongst the entries are the classy gelding Maurice, who is trained at Cholmondley by Sian McCain, her charge was impressive when following up his Bangor victory with a very easy four length win at this course on Easter Monday, beating the well regarded Gunner Be Quick from the Sheila Crow yard. Also declared are the Willie Bryan trained Good Time Willie, who completed a hat trick at Whittington last weekend. Shady Anne, from the Gordie Edwards stable, was also a winner at Whittington. Others to note include Fresh Love, Steppes Of Gold, The Accordion Man, Whistling Straits, Chalk It Up and Von Origny, and a cracking race is in prospect.
