24 March 2009 Preview: Puckeridge - Horseheath

Mid Div And Creep, a horse whose name allows trainer Perry Harding-Jones to not bother with riding instructions, is worth following at the Puckeridge Point-To-Point at Horseheath on Saturday.

Already a three-time winner at this venue, Mid Div And Creep was going great guns in front when hitting the deck four out at Ampton three weeks ago and can make amends here.

She has three different possible targets including going for a clean sweep of the three Horseheath Hunts Club Members Races run during 2009. She has eight potential opponents (including old rival Where's My Baby) in the Club Members which gets the action under way at 1.30pm.

She could instead cross swords afresh in the Ladies' Open with Delightful Cliché, who took advantage of her Ampton departure, or opt for the Intermediate Race where Where's My Baby is again among the 12 engaged.

A total of 94 entries have been taken for this six-race card and Mid Div And Creep is one of the few who does not need the forecast rain to materialise as she won on firm ground last spring. By contrast, connections of both Bob Ar Aghaidh and Gaelsbob, two leading candidates among the 19 engaged in the Men's Open, will be hoping that the heavens open.

Bob Ar Aghaidh pushed the very talented Bee An Bee all the way when second in the Kent National last time out while Gaelsbob won a hot race at Larkhill before being predictably outclassed in the Cheltenham Foxhunter.

The steeplechasing ends at 4.35pm when a maximum of 11 will go to post in the Restricted Race, but there will be two children's pony races after the jumping has concluded.

Horseheath is four miles west of Haverhill with easy access direct from the A1307. Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s free and £2 for a racecard.
