23 November 2009 Rosie Chinery Update

by Carolyn Tanner

The East Anglian area will this season be missing one of its most promising riders, as Rosie Chinery will not be taking out a licence.

Rosie, who suffered severe injuries in a schooling incident in March, has happily made tremendous progress and has been back in competitive action in the show-jumping arena for the past four months, but race-riding is not currently on her agenda. "I've only got a couple of guaranteed rides," she explained, "so it isn't worth trying to get a licence, as it would be so expensive."

Rosie, who had her first ride between the flags on her 16th birthday in 2006, hasn't ruled out a return in 2011, but in the meantime will concentrate on her main equestrian sport, eventing. Prior to her accident she was in line for top honours in that discipline, being a member of the British U21 eventing squad.
