The South Devon Hunts Club, one of two Point-to-Point meetings scheduled to take place on 28th December, is previewed by Lucy Johnson.

Wrap up warm for the South Devon Hunts Club Point-to-Point, which takes place on Tuesday, December 28th.

The meeting is a high point of the Westcountry holiday season with burning fires, catering, a licensed bar and the chance to bet all adding to the terrific atmosphere. The course is located just off the A380 and for those with Satellite Navigation the postcode is TQ13 0AE.

The first race is off at 11.30am with Mole Valley Farmers sponsoring the Club Members race. Entries include Henri Prends Garde, who won four times last season and Pauillac, who may improve for his run at Wadebridge earlier this month, along with Thoor Ballylee who runs well fresh.

Next up is the South Devon Hunt Club Members race for Novice Riders which is a qualifier for the Harley Racing National Novice Riders Championship. Entries include the prolific Fully Loaded and Le Forizien.

The Rugglestone Inn at Widecombe-in-the-Moor is the sponsor of the Maiden race for horses aged four, five, six and seven and then it's the Mixed Open, sponsored by Marksway Horsehage.

Entries include Come What Augustus, who won nicely at Wadebridge, Bishy Barnaby who is unbeaten in five runs and Walter De Wodeland, who ran consistently well last season.

The Intermediate is sponsored by Exeter Racecourse with the final on Ladies' Night on May 3rd; Red Watch will be popular in the betting following his Restricted win at Wadebridge. Jafaro des Bois is a course winner and Commander Kev won a Restricted in good style at the back end of last season.

Last race on the card is an Open Maiden with 20 Entries. Josiah Bay ran consistently well last season and Buried Gold may have improved again with another summer on his back.

Entrance is £20 per car or £10 per car with one occupant.
