The South Wold Point-to-Point takes place on Saturday 13th March at Brocklesby Park, Habrough, just off the A18 close to Humberside Airport, 5 miles east of junction 5 M180.

The course is set in beautiful parkland and is an ideal day out for all the family. This is the second of two meetings to be held at Brocklesby Park this year. The first race is at 12.30pm and entrance is £8 per person with under 16s free. Car parking is free and race cards are £2.50. A total of 108 Entries have been received to contest the six races and the track is in excellent condition.

The first race on the card is the Richard Sanderson (On Course Bookmaker)-sponsored Open Maiden race, for which 35 Entries have been received; it is possible that this race may divide on the day. Nick Kent, who trains at Cadney near Brigg, has Springfield Dante entered; this nine-year-old mare is owned by Margaret Pinney, who has been involved with the South Wold Point-to-Point for many years. Springfield Dante showed some form for the first time last Sunday when finishing third in the Maiden race at Charm Park. That race was the fastest division on the day and Springfield Dante could go close on Saturday.

Roger Jackson's Propriano Du Bourg ran well to be third in a Maiden race at Thorpe in February and should have improved. However, the winner could well be Joan Tice's Teeton Coral. This mare, by Karinga Bay and from the famous Teeton family, was fourth at the Brocklesby meeting on her debut. She will have improved and Stuart Morris will give her every assistance from the saddle.

R.H. & B.M. Booth are kindly sponsoring the second race on the card; the PPORA Club Members Novice Riders race for which 13 Entries have been received. Samantha Klug has Naturally Inspired entered; This mare gave 21-year-old Samantha her first winner in the Members race at the Brocklesby meeting. The race that day was run in quite a fast time and Naturally Inspired has a good chance of being placed again on Saturday.

My Best Buddy is a consistent veteran and should make the frame. He is likely to be ridden by a good Novice rider in Ben Way. Another horse that is fairly consistent is The Fairhill Boy, the likely mount of Sam Vaughan-Jones. However, if Nick Kent's Gun Smith lines up here he will take all the beating. This horse is a useful front runner and has won an Intermediate and been placed third in a Hunter Chase at Fakenham.

Gun Smith is also entered in the third race, the Gleadell Agriculture Ltd. Confined, which has attracted 18. Gun Smith would have a very good chance if choosing this alternative event, whilst Samantha Klug has Caramia entered in this contest. This mare was a good second behind Lutin Du Moulin at Brocklesby and then ran poorly when falling at North Carlton. If Caramia returns to her Brocklesby form she should run well. Owner / Rider Richard Hunnisett has Harapour entered here and he usually runs a good race; he is trained by Gerald Bailey who also has Margaret Moody's Pleasure Shared entered. Pleasure Shared was second behind Poppy Day at the Burton meeting and the form has worked out well as Poppy Day has won again since then. Galaxia ran well at North Carlton behind the useful Picabo Kid for the Russell family and he should run well again. The Hutchinson family have a very good chance with either Brocklesby Confined winner Mendo or Garthorpe winner Zilcash.

The Nick Kent team have Pangbourne entered in the D & M Barthorpe Mixed Open race for which 13 Entries have been taken. Pangbourne is owned by the Newstead Priory Racing Club and won under National Hunt Rules when trained by Alan King. He clearly has plenty of ability but is a bit of a character and may be best watched on Saturday. Two of the Entries here, Guilsborough specialist Coolefind and Richard Hunnisett's The King Of Angels, hold entries in a Hunter Chase at Leicester on Friday. If they do come to Brocklesby they both have a good chance. Richard Hunnisett has Denvale entered as well; he is a consistent performer. The veteran Buckby Lane ran a good race when second behind Farmer Frank at Thorpe and still retains plenty of ability.

In the Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate Race the Nick Kent stable are represented by Victoria Branson's Distant Memory. This gelding won the LUHC Members race at the Burton meeting in 2009 and then went on to be a good third in a Mens Open race at Charm Park. Distant Memory is one of 16 entered for this race. Gerald Bailey may run Pleasure Shared here in preference to the Confined race. He also has his Mother-in-Law Pam Saunder's horse True Legend entered; he was third at Thorpe in an Intermediate race in February.

Keen Whip must like Brocklesby having won a Restricted race here and been second behind Mendo at the last meeting. He represents the Brader family and will be ridden by Mark Walford. King Among Queens steps up a grade having won the Restricted race at Brocklesby and may well be up to this progression. This race is a qualifier for the £7000 3 miles 1 ½ furlongs Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate Point to Point Championship Final Hunter Chase at Cheltenham on Wednesday 5th May 2010.

The final race on the card is the N.F.U. Restricted race due off at 3.25 pm. There are 13 possible runners and this contest may be between the two recent Maiden winners Noble Ben and Byways Boy. Noble Ben is trained by Cherry Coward for Dominic Curran and won the Maiden at the Brocklesby meeting in good style. Byways Boy won the fastest division of the Maiden race at the Blankney Point-to-Point at North Carlton. He is trained by Gerald Bailey and will be ridden by Dickie Barrett who is currently the leading gentleman rider in the D & M Barthorpe sponsored Midlands Area Championships 2010.
