25 March 2008 Staintondale - Charm Park

Wasntme: scored for trainer Roger Marley

Despite the bitter cold wind and the several heavy snow showers between races, the Staintondale Point-to-Point managed to get through their six race card.

Birdsall based jockey Rachel Clark was the leading jockey at the meeting by riding a winner and finishing second in the concluding Maiden. Her victory came on Banners Flying who made all the running and jumped boldly in front to win the young horse Maiden for her uncle Steven Clark. He was not on hand to see the victory having been too busy at his Saddlery store.

Rachel very nearly won the Open Maiden race as well riding Dee Cee Bolter for trainer Roger Marley. The pair tried to make all the running but were headed on the line by stable companion Wasntme ridden by Freya Hartley, who was only asked to ride with minutes to spare before declaration. The pair finished very fast to get up on the line by a length.

The winning performance of the day was that of Oliver Greenall on North Island to win the Restricted. Greenall's saddle slipped back at fence 14 and with only one stirrup, and basically riding bare back, he managed to stay on board and win by 5 lengths with the saddle hanging over the horses back end.

Harwood Dale and Mark Walford won their third race of the season, much to the delight of owner Hugh Waldie, when taking the Confined, whilst Euro Lord and Simon Walker only had an exercise gallop to win the Members race for trainer Chris Pimlott who was winning the race for the third year running.

Serena Brotherton won her first race of the season on Welcome To Unos who looked beat at the second last, but finished fast to collar Pikachu Blue near the line in the Mixed Open.
