Foulstons Ruler and Caveman, the two easiest winners at Marks Tey last Sunday, could make quick reappearances to take each other on in the Mens Open Race at the Suffolk Point-to-Point at Ampton this coming Sunday, March 13th.

Both already have form at this Bury St Edmunds venue. Foulstons Ruler was stopped in his tracks by a final fence blunder but still managed to finish third behind Kornati Kid here five weeks ago while Caveman is something of an Ampton specialist, having already won here on four occasions.

Kornati Kid, who has disappointed since last month's win, is also part of an 11-strong Entry that includes The Hairy Lemon, who got rid of his pilot when disputing the lead at the last obstacle at Horseheath a fortnight ago, as well as the seasonal debutant Point Proven, who was first or second in all six of his 2010 starts between the flags.

Foulstons Ruler could instead run in the Confined Race, but would need to carry a six pound penalty and the 12 other possible combatants include Ide No Idea and Thatmakestwoofus, who were divided by a short head when fighting out a thrilling finish at Horseheath on February 26th.

The Hairy Lemon also has an alternative engagement in the Ladies Open, where Cool Roxy and Killard Point, two old favourites from National Hunt circles, also feature among the 13 Entries.

Cool Roxy, who has won at Fakenham no less than 11 times, rolled back the years with a gallant front-running second to another potential runner here, Delightful Cliché, at Horseheath. Killard Point, who has won five races under Rules and been placed on 16 other occasions, was second in a strong Ladies Open in Lincolnshire last month.

Overall 85 Entries have been received for a six-race card that kicks off at 1.30pm with an eight-Entry Hunt Race and runs through until 4.25pm when there are 24 possibles in the Open Maiden.

Ampton is four miles north of Bury St Edmunds just off the main road to Thetford, the A134, post code IP31 1NS. Approaching from Bury, follow the signs for Thetford from junction 43 of the A14 then turn right at the pub in the village of Ingham. The course entrance is barely 100 yards down this road.

Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s free. The steeplechasing will be preceded at 12.15pm and 12.30pm by a pair of children's pony races, run over half a circuit of the course bypassing the fences.
