21 April 2011 Preview: Teme Valley - Brampton Bryan
by Stella Havard
Clerk of the course Crawford Gibbons is working round the clock to provide the best possible conditions for the Teme Valley Point-to-Point races on Easter Saturday. The course was praised by all for perfect going at the Brampton Bryan course a fortnight ago, and watering has continued in the hope that the Easter Saturday fixture will be as successful.
Secretary Pauline Duggan reports that the seven races on the card will be enhanced by an Easter egg hunt for children, organised by local trainer Steve Isaac.
Steve will be hoping that his charge, Major Royal, who has been runner-up on two occasions this year, will go one better and take the hotly-contested Members event, which will be the first on the card at 2 p.m.
Sarah-Jayne Davies, the trainer in flying form with a treble at Bitterley, seems to be holding all the aces with ten entries at the meeting, and is looking to retain her area title.
The beautiful riverside course at Brampton Bryan (SY7 0JT) can be found 9 miles north-west of Ludlow, between Leintwardine and Knighton on the A4113. Entrance to the course is £10 per person, children under 16 free.
