A high class Mens Open promises to be the highlight of a Thurlow Point-to-Point at Horseheath on Saturday February 26th, which has attracted 91 Entries.
The action gets under way at 1.00pm with a 10-Entry Hunts Club Members while the last of the six races, an Open Maiden in which 23 are engaged, comes under orders at 3.45pm.
Denvale, who defied the advancing age of both himself and his Owner/Rider Richard Hunnisett when taking the Mens Open at this venue three weeks ago, heads the 20 possible runners for the corresponding event at this fixture.
Other leading candidates are Ballygalley Bob, who won the race before Denvale's here last month in a slightly quicker time; Shillingstone, who had some high class form under Rules a couple of years ago and will be making his debut for Norfolk Rider George Greenock; the Shropshire-trained Nomadic Dreamer, who will carry the familiar colours of Liz Tolhurst from Langley, near Colchester; Sigma Digital, who won all three of his 2010 starts but has not been seen since: and the veteran six-time Hunter Chase winner, Coolefind.
The Hairy Lemon, who was a useful performer in the professional code for Alan King, could also tackle the Mens Open, although connections may prefer to go for the Ladies Open, which looks a slightly easier option.
Bantry Bere, who won a Hunter Chase at Fakenham last season and Champtho, a summer acquistion to the powerful Joe Turner stable, look the pick of 14 Entries.
Ide No Idea may be able to follow up last month's course victory in the Intermediate Race, while Galway Jack, who was Ide No Idea's nearest pursuer last time out, should go one better in the Restricted Race.
Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s allowed in for free. The course is easy to reach by car, four miles west of Haverhill on the A1307, post code CB21 4QF.
