A big entry of 152 horses has been received for the Saturday, February 27th Thurlow fixture at Horseheath.
The Maiden, with 49 Entries, is the most popular race and has been divided, so there will be seven races, the first at 1.00pm and running through until 4.15pm.
The Mens Open promises to be a high class affair and the 30 possible runners include winners of the corresponding race for the past two years (Rydal Park in '09 and Northall Lad in '08) . Other notable entries include the 20-time winner Irilut; Cedrus Libani, who has won two hot races at Cottenham already this season; and Denvale, who took the Mens Open at the January 30th Horseheath meeting.
The Ladies Open could witness a third clash of the season between Mid Div And Creep and King du Berlais. Mid Div And Creep acts particularly well around this undulating course; her five wins at the venue include a comfortable defeat of King du Berlais four weeks ago. That rival has since gained revenge, when getting up close home at Marks Tey on February 13th.
Other leading contenders among the 22 engaged are Sweet Citizen, who won over course and distance on his only start of 2009, along with the former top class National Hunt performer Ungaro.
The action gets under way with a 10-entry Club Members event which could go the way of Romper Stomper, who looked like he was back to something close to his best when third at Cottenham three weeks ago.
Horseheath is four miles west of Haverhill (post code CB21 4QF) with easy access straight off the A1307. Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s free.
