28 May 2011 Half Century for Hannah

by Carolyn Tanner

Hannah Watson recorded her 50th career success on Wednesday when taking a lady riders' hurdle at Newton Abbot on the Sophie Leech-trained Kings Story.

Her initial victory came on Andre Laval at Weston Park in 2002, and her tally includes seven winners under Rules.

It was a third triumph from her last three rides on licensed tracks, but the bubble burst on Friday at Stratford when her mount Mad Victor, who started joint-favourite for the Ladies' Hunter Chase at Stratford, was pulled up. He had received a kick at the start, and was also found to have broken a blood vessel.

To date this season Hannah has ridden seven winners between the flags.
