The Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point finally takes place on Sunday 21st February at the third time of trying. Unfortunately the weather has caused this Point-to-Point to be postponed twice from its initial January date. This is the third running of the meeting and the previous meetings have raised over £13,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who will once again benefit from the funds raised.
It takes place on Mick Easterby's farm at Sheriff Hutton and with a total of 127 entries it looks as though there will be some very competitive racing. The postcode for satellite navigation is YO60 7TN and admission is £10 per person to include a racecard and under 13's are free.
There are six Point-to-Point races and the first race, a Club Members Conditions race, is due to be run at 12 noon. There is also a Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point Club Members Race for Novice Riders.
There are some very useful sorts in the Club Members Conditions race, including recent Hunter Chase runners Ask Bobby and Father Murtagh, as well as the still unbeaten and very useful My Old Piano.
The Novice Riders race could be the perfect opportunity for Charlotte Cundall to quickly double her winning tally after her first win in the novice and veterans race at the Sinnington Point-to-Point, beating her father Chris, who owned Major Shark. She will also have a good chance on Andre Chenier in the Ladies Race after he ran a very close second at Witton Castle.
The day starts with pony racing and there is one race for 14.2 hh which has nine entries.
