WHO'S WHO

PTPB/BHA

THE POINT-TO-POINT BOARD (PTPB)

The Point-to-Point Board (PTPB) replaced the Point-to-Point Liaison Committee at the end of 2004. It includes a nominated representative from all the main stakeholders in Point-to-Pointing: Masters of Foxhounds Association (MFHA), Point-to-Point Owners and Riders Association (PPORA), Point-to-Point Secretaries Association (PPSA) and Jockey Club. There are also three independent appointees.

PTPB recommends Point-to-Point policy and Rules/Regulations issues to the Stewards of the Jockey Club.

THE BRITISH HORSERACING AUTHORITY (BHA)

It is the British Horseracing Authority’s role to ensure the continued health and successful development of the sport. As both the governing and regulatory body it is the British Horseracing Authority’s responsibility to:

  • provide the most compelling and attractive racing in the world;
  • be seen as the world leader in raceday regulation;
  • ensure the highest standards for the sport and participants, on and away from the racecourse;
  • promote the best for the racehorse; and,
  • represent and promote the sport and the industry.

As the governing and regulatory body for the sport, the British Horseracing Authority’s responsibilities are wide-ranging.

Point-to-Point Department

Point-to-Pointing is run under the sanction and regulations of the British Horseracing Authority, while each Meeting is run at a local level by a Hunt or recognised Point-to-Point Club.

Ultimately, the management of the sport from a Regulatory aspect is looked after by the Point-to-Point Department.

As well as issuing the Regulations for Point-to-Point Steeplechases on a yearly basis, the BHA’s Point-to-Point Department issues Riders' Qualification Certificates.

The Point-to-Point Department should be contacted if you have any queries regarding Horse Eligibility, Rider Information, Regulations and General Information.
