01 March 2012 Preview: Ross Harriers - Garnons
by Stella Havard
Despite last year's plans to move the Ross Harriers Point-to-Point, it will return to Garnons Estate this Sunday (4th), where it has been run since 1984.
"We would have been required to move our date," explained area Secretary, Dick Pike, "And there just wasn't one available that was suitable. So the Cotterrell family are kindly welcoming the fixture back to Garnons."
The 157 entries received will see a card of a minimum of seven races, including an Intermediate where the winner will qualify for a place in the line up for the coveted Connolly's Red Mills Final at Cheltenham on May 2nd.
‘Genius' trainer, Dick Baimbridge, 81, will be hoping to welcome his gutsy mare, Shernally back into the Garnons winner's enclosure, to bring his total as a trainer ever nearer to the magic 500.
The first race is due off at 1 pm and the beautiful parkland venue (HR4 7JU) can be found on the A438 Hereford to Kington road, eight miles west of Hereford. Entrance to the picturesque course will be £12.50 per person.
