The Zetland Hunt Point-to-Point takes place at Witton Castle on Monday 3rd May. 144 entries have been received for the seven race card and racing starts at 2.00 pm with the Hunt Members race.
The second race is the Intermediate and 17 Entries have been received. King Among Queens was running very well here at the Old Raby meeting until coming to grief at the last, however there are a couple that could be slightly better than him, including Brown's Beck who returned to the track at Easingwold last week and came second and will surely have come on for the run.
There are a 29 horses entered in the Restricted race. Darren put in a great run at the York & Ainsty meeting last Sunday and could go well again. There are a few horses from the Northern Area that could line up, but the race is likely to go the way Skarmanche who was a very impressive winner of his Maiden at the Cleveland meeting two weeks ago.
The Mens Open has got some seasoned winners among the entries and this could go the way of Fox Point who was beaten only a neck by the very useful My Old Piano at the Bedale meeting last month. Amicelli and Sonevafushi don't quite seem to be the force of old but the other big danger could be Quechua Des Obeaux.
The Ladies Open could turn out to be a hot race. Andre Chenier really likes this course as he showed when coming second here at the last meeting. It will also suit Blandings Castle and Nawaadi who is much improved this season.
The final two races are divisions of the Open Maiden Race.
The course has excellent viewing as it is set in a natural amphitheatre and the majority of the course, apart from the start which is hidden by trees, can be seen from the hillside. The postcode for satellite navigation is DL14 0DE.
Could all owners and trainers please note that as at the last meeting, there is a new entrance for the horseboxes which will be clearly signed, however the parking area has changed and lorries will not be allowed in the castle entrance.
Admission is £20 per car and single occupancy is £10 per person.
